Session 10
Saturday, September 8th, 2007.
Events
- The party tracks the dragon turtle through the water to try to find his lair. They find a strange underwater complex.
- On the boat, they are visited by a naga. She claims to be Ugrushaa, formerly the sovereign of this territory, and the enemy of the usurping sea giant Tamoreus. She offers to aid the party in slaying the giant, leaving them all of his treasure, save one important item.
- The party tracks the corpse of the turtle, but it is gone; instead, they are attacked by 2 dire sharks! They defeat the sharks; Circe claims one as temporary animal companion.
- The party rides the shark, invisibly, into the palace/temple/penis extension of Tamoreus. The turtle, Gamoril, has been resurrected! They attack! They win (but Epinora doesn't).
- The party is surrounded by anguillians as Tamoreus enters. Circe attempts to parlay with him, but her particular brand of diplomacy does not win him over. He offers to spare their lives in exchange for a night on the town with Circe, but Calyx, on her behalf, refuses. He charges the giant. The fight commences; two other nagas join as Tamoreus and his army are destroyed.
- The nagas claim the reposed corpse of a huge naga, the true Ugrushaa, Queen of the Mists. They explain that putting her to rest will restore balance to the Tamorean Vast.
- The party claims the rest of the treasure (including dragon turtle parts), and returns to the ship.
- They begin to reincarnate Epinora. But...what's this? The contraband egg (see Session 7) has been damaged! Presuming the death of the creature inside, they bring the egg to the deck. Suddenly, it bursts into flames, destroying the egg, but leaving a new one in its place. The egg rapidly grows, then hatches to reveal a phoenix! The curious bird gets to know the party (primarily by abducting them and flying around at breakneck speed), and appears to take a liking to Medine. It decides to hang around the ship.
- Epinora is reincarnated...but as a half-dryad! She seems oddly okay with her new body, and even seems to have inherited some of Circe's shamelessness. She has gained the ability to polymorph into a coconut tree.
- Nausicaa heads toward Draconian Mountain (bypassing the Raptoran islands). The journey takes 5 days, and is mostly uneventful.
- As the ship approaches Draconian Island, mists cloy and the currents shift. The ship is suddenly dead in the water as a dragon attacks! Demanding surrender, particularly of the "pirate captain" Calyx, the bronze dragon demonstrates her seriousness with a lightning breath weapon. The party surrenders.
- After receiving a painstaking explanation, Cybilenemarea accepts that the party is not her enemy, but seems troubled. Apparently, Verian pirates have been attacking her territory for years, raiding peaceful draconian villages who did nothing to harm them. Particularly, she is tracking a strange, red ship, unlike any other Verian ship she's seen. The party offers to help track down that ship; in return, she offers the services of her home town.
